Manage EMA Groups
Use the Group Management tab to create groups to assist with the management of EMA learners.
The Group Management screen is split in to two sections: EMA Group and Learners.
The EMA Group grid displays all the EMA groups that have been created. You can filter the groups shown by location using the Location filter.
The Learners grid displays the learners assigned to the selected EMA group.
Groups can be assigned to individual staff members so that:
- The workload can be distributed
- Staff members can manage small numbers of learners
- Logical grouping can be created for a central EMA administrator
Use the Group Management tab to:
To create a group:

Click the Add Group button from the Group Management ribbon.
A new record is added to the EMA Group section.
Alternatively, select an existing record and then click the Duplicate button.

Enter the relevant group information for the new group in the EMA Group section.
The fields in the EMA Group section are described in the following table.

Enter the name of the EMA group. Note: This must be unique. |
EMA Admin |
The staff member that you want to assign to the group. Note: Only users with the EMA admin role will be displayed. |
Location |
The location of the group, if the group is assigned to a location. Use the Find button to search for and locate the relevant location.

EMA Course |
The course code, if the group is assigned to a course. Use the Find button to search for and locate the relevant location.

Assigned Learners | The number of assigned learners. |
- Click Save.
When you have created a group you will then need to assign the relevant learners to that group.
To assign a learner to a group:

Select the group that you want to assign learners to in the EMA Group section of the Group Management screen, and then click the Add Learners To Group button.
The EMA Group Learner Search window is displayed.

Search for and locate the relevant learners that you want to add to the group, and then click Open selected.
Note: You can select multiple records using Shift-click (for a series of records), Ctrl-click (for individual records) or Ctrl-A (for all records).
The learners are added to the group and displayed in the Learners section of the Group Management screen with an asterisk in the left-hand column.
- Click Save.
To delete a group:

Select the group you want to delete from the EMA Group section of the Group Management screen.

Click the Delete button on the EMA Commands ribbon.
A confirmation message is displayed.
Note: You cannot delete a group that has learners assigned to it. If you try to delete a group with learners assigned then the below pop-up window will be displayed.
- Click OK.
- Click Save.
