Event Types
Event types can be assigned a colour, so they are readily identifiable when viewed on the timetable. You will need to create at least one event type, as this is a mandatory field when creating a new event.
Configure Event Types
The fields on the Event Types screen are described in the following table.
This field | Holds this information... |

Event Type | The code for the event type being created. |
Short Description | The short description for the event type being created. |
Long Description | The long description for the event type being created. |
Default Register Type |
The default registers type for this event type. Select one of the following:

Default Function Staff | The default function for the member of staff in this event type. Select from the drop-down list. |
Default Function Student | The default function for the student in this event type. Select from the drop-down list. Generally, this would be ‘Candidate’ having been created in Person Functions reference data. |
Default Layout | The default layout for this event type. Select from the drop-down list. |
Background Colour | The hexadecimal colour codes for timetable bricks. |
BI | Whether events of this type should be included in Business Intelligence (BI) attendance calculations. |
Active | Whether this is an active record. |
Viewable by Learners | Whether this event type is viewable by learners via ebs: ontrack Learner Hub. |
Learner Event Notifications | Whether learners should be notified of any event changes. |
Update Register with Planned Absence | Defines whether a register is automatically updated when a planned absence is reported by either a learner or tutor. |
