Add Course Initiatives to a Curriculum
To complete a HESA Student return it is important that you assign Course Initiatives to your curriculums. This will ensure that the data for each student is correct.
Add course initiatives to a curriculum

Locate the curriculum in Central using Curriculum Search.

Use the search screen to select or create a curriculum.

In the Curriculum Details screen, ensure the curriculum name is selected, then Select the HESA Course Initiatives tab.

Select the Add button from the Curriculum ribbon.

Apply the relevant Initiative Identifier.
This can be done by in the top screen by selecting the field and choosing from the drop down menu. It can be done from the lower screen by typing the identifier code into the text field or using the drop down menu.
Options are:
- 001 Abridged ITT course
- 004 Higher/Degree Apprenticeship
- 005 Postgraduate loan eligability
- 020 HEFCW fundeed degree apprenticeship scheme
- 027 Place supported by the SFC's Upskilling Fund
- 028 Micro-credential course
- 029 Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE)
- 031 Artifical Intelligence and Data Science postgraduate conversion course programme

Enter the Valid From date.
This can be done in either the top or bottom screen. It can be entered by typing the date into the box in the format dd/mm/yyyy, or by selecting the calendar icon and choosing a date.

If required a Valid To date can also be added.

Repeat steps 4-6 to add as many initiatives as needed.

Select Save.
If the dates selected fall outside of the Unit instance date range you will be prompted to expand the date range for the Unit instance in order to save your changes.
Delete a course initiative from a curriculum

Locate the curriculum in Central using Curriculum Search.

Use the search screen to select or create a curriculum.

In the Curriculum Details screen, ensure the curriculum name is selected, then Select the HESA Course Initiatives tab.

Select the row with the course initiative to be deleted.

Select the Delete button from the Curriculum ribbon.

A confirmation box appears. Select Yes.

A red cross appears next to the initiative.

If you have deleted the wrong initiative select Undelete from the Curriculum ribbon.

Select Save.
