Markbook changes for 4.44
The following changes have been made for 4.44:
Markbook has been renovated and transformed into a more user friendly and functional module.
With the new markbook users can search for exactly the assessment they need. Searches are refined by:
-
Academic Year
-
Subject
-
Unit
-
Tutor group (By Program, subject, or unit) - optional
-
limit to learner without verified grades - optional
-
limit to learner with unmarked assessments - optional
NZ Markbook users at institutions in New Zealand can view LNAAT assessment grades within Markbook. However, the LNAAT assessment grades are read-only and not editable.
Once the search is complete the learners matching your criteria for the assessment are shown with their current results in a grid. This grid is editable and allows users to quickly and easily input results for learners. There is even the option to flood fill columns to speed up to process of recording results. The grid can also be filtered by the columns giving even more control over the data shown at a given moment.
As you make changes in the markbook grid the cells are highlighted to let you keep track of what you have changed. The save button also keeps track of the number of changes to let you keep track.
If you make a large number of updates in a single session, it make take some time to save the grid. So you may want to consider making updates in groups of less than 500 at a time.
The inclusion of the following columns can be controlled in the new markbook institution settings:
-
Predicted grade
-
Working To grade
-
Target grade
-
UCAS grade
-
Aggregate score
Best Practice
For assessments with many criteria there can be a lot of columns and data, so it can be tempting to alter the level or zoom or screensize to view the grid. We recommend not changing the screensize/browser zoom after the markbook grid is loaded. And if possible, leave browser zoom at 100%. This is to give the best performance. If you do change the zoom after the grid has loaded, it is advisable to reload the page.
