Progress Codes

Use this reference data to track a learner’s application, enquiry or enrolment progress in the institution.

The Student Status drop-down list allows you to select whether to manage progress codes for applications, enquiries or enrolments.

Select from the following:

The institution can set up numerous application progress codes but each one must be linked to one of the system defined standard progress statuses.

Progress Codes reference data

The system defined standard progress statuses for the applications area are:

  • A - Active
  • T - Transferred
  • W - Withdrawn

You can also add a custom role to the progress code to determine who can use the progress code. Custom roles are set up in the User Management module.

The institution can set up numerous progress codes but each one must be linked to one of the system defined standard progress statuses. The system defined standard progress statuses for the enrolments area are:

  • A (Active)
  • F (Finished)
  • L (Waiting List)
  • N (Non Starter)
  • T (Transferred)
  • W (Withdrawn)

There is a similar list of statuses for both enquiries and applications.

You can associate many progress codes with one progress type (for example: T1 = Transferred changed mind).

The fields on the Progress Codes screen are described in the following table.

This field Holds this information...
Progress Code The code for the progress record.
Short Description The short description for the progress code.
Long Description The long description for the progress code.
Progress Type

The progress type for the progress code. System defined. For enrolments:

  • A – Active
  • F – Finished
  • L – Waiting List
  • N – Non-Starter
  • T – Transferred
  • W – Withdrawn
Active Whether the record is currently active.
Successful Completion Whether the progress status indicates a successful completion.
Progress Comment Any required comments regarding the progress code.
Linked Role Add a custom role to the progress code to determine who can use the progress code. Custom roles are set up in User Management.
Generate Fees Whether fees are generated when this progress code is selected.
Applicable to institutions in New Zealand onlyPending Studylink Whether an enrolment progress code is set as 'Pending StudyLink' to determine the value that is returned in the Not Known or Pending field of a VoS Response file.
Applicable to institutions in New Zealand onlyCompletion Indicator The completion indicator (that is: completion status of a course) to map to the progress code. Select from the drop-down list.
Applicable to institutions in New Zealand onlyExclude from SDR Whether the progress code should not be included in the SDR return.
Applicable to institutions in New Zealand onlyRequires Outcome Whether the progress code requires an outcome.
